Majorca Holidays

Majorca holidays are ideal for every taste, which is why they're been so popular with Irish holidaymakers. As the best known of the Balearic Islands, it offers a superb mixture of Spanish flair, Mediterranean weather and island quirkiness. It punches well above its weight in terms of attractions per square kilometre: there's as much to see and do here as in many much larger regions of Europe. The highly competitive market means that cheap holidays to Majorca are easy to find without needing to compromise on accommodation standards or convenience. If you book with SunSearch Holidays, you'll also rest easy in the knowledge that your Majorca holidays will be hassle-free!

If your idea of a great holiday is one with buzzing nightlife, consider self catering in Majorca. The major resort of Magaluf is one obvious choice, with its strip of clubs, restaurants and bars, plus a stunning beach of white sand. Just a few minutes' drive north of Magaluf is Palma Nova, which was built as a dedicated resort and so has among the best hotels and facilities on the island. It's also a great choice if you're a party animal, given the wide range of holiday deals and cheap all-inclusive packages centred on the resort. For a different experience, try Santa Ponsa, a smaller resort but still with plenty of live music bars, restaurants and clubs.

If you're taking your holidays to Majorca from Dublin as a couple, or with the kids, there's still a great deal to appeal here. Cala d'Or in the southeastern part of the island is renowned for its shopping, with a fabulous array of independent and upmarket boutiques complementing the art galleries that fringe its romantically secluded coves. It's also a fine place to discover Majorca's fascinatingly varied cuisine. Alternatively, head north to Alcudia, with a choice of two large beaches offering a range of watersports, as well as a sensitively restored old town. A quieter option is Puerto Pollensa, which features the beautiful Pine Walk trail along the seafront.

Naturally, many people taking Majorca holidays from Ireland head for the capital, Palma. As the only city on the island, it's lively and busy year round, but without feeling overcrowded. Things to do here include sightseeing at the enormous Gothic cathedral and exploring the Old Town. This is crammed with winding lanes and interesting cafés, many of which take you to the pedestrianised promenade that snakes its way around the vast harbour. Reviews suggest a perennially popular attraction for families is Palma Aquarium, where you can learn about the importance of sealife to this part of the Mediterranean.

Just to the west of the city is Marineland Majorca, where you can walk through shark-filled aquarium tanks or enjoy regular shows by sealions and dolphins. Many cheap holidays to Majorca also take in a trip to Katmandu Park in Magaluf, a fun-filled fairground with everything from a 4D cinema to one of the most amazing crazy golf courses you'll find! Perhaps the most unique place to visit is the Caves of Drach, where you'll descend beneath the earth to marvel at huge underground caverns. With so many last minute bargains and low cost apartments on offer, your biggest problem may be choosing – but book with SunSearch Holidays and you're sure of a wonderful time!
